Software Company Files Patent Infringement Lawsuit in Illinois Court

Patents are a form of intellectual property, and are frequently used in the business and computer industries. When a work is patented, its creator is assigned exclusive rights to produce and market that work. Obtaining a legal patent allows for inventors to release their invention to the public without fear that another party will simply reproduce it.

According to a Business Wire press release, BSP Software LLC recently filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Motio, Inc., in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. In this alleged patent infringement case, BSP states that Motio improperly used works that fell under at least two BSP patents. BSP Software LLC’s President, Andrew Rachmiel, stated “BSP Software has been an innovator and visionary in the software industry for many years and continues to make substantial investments into bringing great products and services to market. We have a responsibility to our customers, partners, and employees to protect those investments and cannot stand by while others infringe on our years of hard work.”
