Todd Parkhurst has spent 45 years representing clients in litigation involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and licensing across an array of industries. He currently works on obtaining patents, copyrights, and trademarks for clients. He has been honored with several awards across the last two decades including Best of U.S. IP Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America.
He earned his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Illinois.
Practice areas include a concentration in litigation, transactional, counseling and solicitation in patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, and computer law issues. He has dozens of patent litigations under his belt from software and video games to machine tools and HVAC conduits, as well as patent prosecution experience with hundreds of patents issued. His work has included trademark and copyright infringements from books and movies to photo identification cards and franchise restaurants. Todd also has extensive experience in licensing and negotiations, has prosecuted hundreds of patent applications and intellectual property cases across many industries.
He has worked toward a diverse portfolio of cases for a strong background in all aspects of engineering, and other topics, with the intent in being as well-informed as possible regarding the work he has undertaken over the years.
In addition, Todd was an adjunct professor of Intellectual Property Law at IIT – Chicago Kent Law School for more than 20 years, as well as being involved in many other professional activities including with the Chicago Bar Association and American Arbitration Association. He also co-authored a book and has delivered many presentations as a keynote speaker regarding licensing, acquisitions, copyrights, information disclosure statements and more.
